Ben has written and directed a number of shorts, the most recent of which, Hungry Ghost, premiered at the San Diego Asian Film Festival in 2019. He is finishing an MFA at Columbia in screenwriting and directing. He is also in development of a feature An Unseasonable Year. It tells the story of the characters Leo and Jerome from It Might As Well Be Spring over the course of a year, when Leo moves back in with his dad due to health problems, and the humility they both gain after struggling with each other. Prior to film school, he worked in an ecology lab, on farms, a university in China, and for three years in economic research in Hong Kong and New York.
